A “The Witcher” Series Is In The Works At Netflix
As if we didn’t see it coming, “The Witcher” is getting some Netflix lovin’. Hardcore fans of the CD Projekt Red RPG game are definitely gonna get their expectations up given the videogame’s impressive storyline.
Based on the eight novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, “The Witcher” follows one Geralt of Rivia who was genetically enhanced and tasked to destroy monsters. In the game’s opening, a player is made to watch a cutscene where Geralt, the Witcher, comes into a struggle with the king’s daughter who had turned into a ferral monster. This heralds the players into the Witcher’s world and his duty to vanquish all abomination.
The Polish author would be serving as the creative consultant. In an interview, Sapkowski had expressed his utter excitement about the project. He had been writing about the material for over 30 years, he disclosed.
Announced back in 2015, a movie adaptation is also in the works under the direction of Tomas Baginski. Baginski is also slated to direct at least one episode per season of the planned series.
The details regarding the story, release date, and casting choices have yet to be announced. Baginski and Jarek Sawko, the executive producers, stated that the source material will definitely not be undermined in the production.
