Unreal Engine and Epic Games Genius, Tim Sweeney Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

tim_sweeney_01Unreal Engine creator and Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney is set to receive the “Lifetime Achievement Award” on the 1st of March 2017 in the much-awaited Game Developers Choice Awards.
Much deserved, Sweeney is responsible for the founding of Epic MegaGames, a shareware game publisher established in 1991. The proliferation of user-created worlds is owed to the game publisher’s first product, ZZT. Leading in PC shareware in the 90s, Epic MegaGames saw exponential growth as it went on to release titles such “Jazz Jackrabbit”, “Epic Pinball” and “Tyrian”.
Adding further to his already impressive CV, Sweeney created the first generation Unreal Engine while functioning as Epic’s main founder and CEO. Unreal Engine was purposefully created for 1998’s PC game “Unreal”. However, Sweeney broke the boundaries as the Unreal Engine grew to become the leading creation engine for well-known games such as, “BioShock”, the Batman: Arkham series, “Splinter Cell’, and “Assassin’s Creed”.

Sweeney’s constant innovation of the Unreal Engine eventually led to games of great repute including “Gears of War” and “Mass Effect”. Up until today, the gaming community is wowed by the various creations that game developers are able to come up with through Unreal Engine.

Indeed Mr. Tim Sweeney is both an innovator and vanguard of the game development industry. We are sure that we haven’t seen the last of Tim Sweeney’s innovation.

The Game Developer’s Choice Awards would be held within the 2017 Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco where other international game titans are also expected to appear.
