Sean Bean Is The Tech Tree’s Voice in “Civilization VI”
Fan favorite Sean Bean of the “Lord of the Rings” and “Game of Thrones” fame voices the narration for the Tech Tree in “Civilization VI” which was released on October 21st. And of course we can all hope that the voice’s persona doesn’t die of some ingenious/cruel plot shocker. But in Sean Bean;s (im)perfect world anything’s possible ain’t it?
Bean narrates the Flavor Text for the various techs a user can research within the game. Upon completion of research, the user would be hearing him disclose a relevant historical quotation.
Of note, this ain’t the first time that the seasoned actor would be voicing for the medium. The trailer released earlier for Civilization VI’s E3 has also featured Bean’s voice. But even before that, Bean had already done voice acting for the survival horror game, “Kholat”. On top of these, he had also given life to Emperor Martin Septim in “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion”. To date, this was his most high profile video game project role.
In this sixth installment, Civilization had added a Civics Tree cultivated by culture generation. This would exist alongside the science-based Technology Tree.
If we are to remember, back in “Civilization 4”, another big name had lent his voice to the game prior to him passing away. Leonard Nimoy voiced the Tech Tree in the game’s fourth incarnation who had later on been replaced by Morgan Sheppard come “Civilization 5”.
A renowned name in Pop Culture indeed, Sean Bean is a personality all geeks would be widely anticipating upon playing Civilization 6. Regardless if it is just his voice, we are keeping our fingers crossed that nothing bad befalls his audio character.
