Mr. Rohit Singh: The Humble Master
It’s hard to believe that Mr. Rohit Singh is still in the process of learning ZBrush. Looking at his works, it appears that he had already mastered the tool.
Mr. Singh has an impressive grasp of human anatomy and an amazing sense of detail. His pieces are works that could espouse intimidation and awe; they’re genuine art, and we can’t keep our eyes off of them.
So let’s get to know Mr. Singh through this short interview and be inspired to be better at our own crafts.
Xeno Creatives (XC): Given your experience in the industry, what do you think is your edge as a 3D artist?
Rohit Singh (RS): I am still learning and struggling to get better at sculpting and the foundation of art. I have worked on many other things before realizing now that I want to be a Character Artist for games and films.
XC: Before concentrating on ZBrush as a primary tool of 3D creation, what other software did you use?
RS: I mostly use Maya and Substance Painter for personal work. But at the workplace, I have to use 3Ds Max. Currently, I am learning other tools like Xgen and Arnold.
XC: What made you turn to ZBrush? What about it appealed to you?
RS: Around 8 years back my friend, Abhishek Jain, showed me the magic of sculpting on high poly meshes inside ZBrush. It was really amusing at that time. However, I had to give up sculpting many times because my output was always blobby surfaces and it never looked right for many years. But for the past 3 to 4 years, I am getting a little better at it.
XC: So far, what were the challenges that you had encountered working in the 3D industry?
RS: I still face many challenges day-to-day. I had worked on VFX projects and television series before and am currently working for Mobile Games. It is a little challenging in terms of mobile platform limitation but it’s a very good learning experience for me.
XC: What is your most exciting project to date?
RS: Currently, I am enjoying working on the “ShadowGun Legends” Game.
XC: What other concepts do you want to create through ZBrush?
RS: I am more interested in sculpting collectibles and want to explore more into “likeness projects” which is really damn difficult for me.
XC: Do you have any advice to aspiring artists?
RS: Well I am not good at giving advice. But I will have to say that, if you’re thinking of being a part of the industry, you should work more on your weaknesses and create many personal artworks to improve your artistic skills.
Don’t stick to one thing if you are planning to work for any company, working in a team requires to get more things done. As a freelancer, it’s good to be a master at something you like.
Keep practicing on creating with ZBrush, play games, and watch movies and awesome TV shows.
Thank you very Mr. Rohit Singh for your time! We wish you all the success in your future endeavours!
