Jeremy Renner Gets Back To Lead Star Status With “Doc Holliday” Biopic
Legendary gunslinger, John Henry ‘Doc’ Holliday gets a biopic of sorts with PalmStar Media’s announced acquisition of the rights to the two Mary Doria Russell, novels, “Doc: A Novel” and “Epitaph: A Novel of the O.K. Corral”.
John Henry ‘Doc’ Holliday who is most known as a temporary deputy marshal is also a good friend to gambler and Pima County deputy sheriff, Wyatt Earp.
The announcement comes with the reveal that the dentist/gambler/gunfighter would be played by action genre favorite, Jeremy Renner. Renner who had starred in various action-packed flicks is finally stepping back into a lead role after being established as a solid supporting actor for his more top-grossing projects.
Doc Holliday was portrayed by Kirk Douglas in the 1957 film, “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral” which depicted the 1881, 30-second shootout between lawmen and members of “Cowboys”, a loosely-organized group of outlaws. In 1946, actor Victor Mature took the role of the gunslinger in the flick, “My Darling Clementine” which also alluded to the historical stand-off. In the 1993 film, “Tombstone” Doc Holliday was played by Val Kilmer.
PalmStar Media’s film project on Doc Holliday is set to be produced by Kevin Frakes with a yet to be announced release date.
