In today’s featured interview, let’s get to know ZBrush artist Mr. Eduardo Fiore. Seeing his works over at ArtStation inspires curiosity and awe with his amazing concepts and evident discipline in producing them.
But does Mr. Fiore one to be satisfied upon completing a project? Hardly. Just like any good artist, he states that he is a hard worker and is one who keeps evolving. And we are glad to have known this as we are definitely looking forward to more of his works.
So let’s sit down and get to know Mr. Eduardo Fiore and find out what inspires him to become a better version of himself.
Xeno Creatives (XC): Given your experience in the industry, what do you think is your edge as a 3D artist?
Eduardo Fiore (EF): Firstly, I would like to thank you guys for the opportunity to talk about my work. It’s an honor to be among such talented artists.
I think that I’m a hard worker focused on evolving as an artist; I have the commitment to always study the artistic foundations.
XC: Whom do you do you consider your influence(s)?
EF: There are so many! I came from the traditional sculpture,so I admire the work of the great masters like Bernini and Michelangelo. Nowadays, I really get inspired by the works of Kris Antropus Costa, Alex Oliver, Cícero Dávila, Rick Fernandes, Jordu Schell, Steve Wang, Simon Lee, Rafael Grassetti, Glauco Longhi, Rafael Souza, Igor Catto, Pedro Conti, Gilberto Magno, Bruno Camara, Mariano Steiner, André Castro and many others!
XC: So far, what were the challenges that you had encountered working in the 3D industry?
EF: The 3D industry has countless talented artists, so it’s a very competitive industry. In my career, I often find myself comparing my work with top-level artists’ works, like the ones I mentioned above. This could be dangerous because we typically compare the worst we know of ourselves to the best we presume about others. More often than not, this results in a considerable performance decline due to self-doubt and anxiety. So, the challenge here is to learn and be inspired by the masters’ works without falling into the trap of comparison. We must always have in mind that our goal should never be to become someone else but to become a better version of yourself every day.
XC: What is your most exciting project to date?
EF: I am currently working for a company called MedRoom. The company uses virtual reality to enhance the training of healthcare professionals and students. This has been the most exciting project of my career since I am responsible for modeling and texturizing many regions and structures of the human body. Also, I appreciate the opportunity to work with a group of very talented people which contributes a lot to my skills development and at the same time that I’m learning more about game production pipeline.
XC: Do you have any advice to aspiring artists?
EF: I consider myself an aspiring artist as well so I would quote a phrase from Michelangelo:”If people knew how hard I worked to achieve my mastery, it wouldn’t seem so wonderful after all.”
