DiCaprio Lined-up for Joker Origin Movie
News of late report that the DCEU will be extending further to include standalone films that may not be a part of the canon.
Adding fuel to the fire is the plan to enlist A-list actor, Leonardo DiCaprio to star in The Joker origin story. Following the confirmation of the prequel being in the works, the news had supposedly caught the ear of the most recent cinematic Joker, Jared Leto. Leto, who is slated to repirse the role in Suicide Squad 2 and the Joker and Harlequin Spinoff, was reportedly not pleased about it.
As reported by Xeno Creatives last August 23rd, the Joker origin movie will be grounded and will derive inspiration from director, Martin Scorsese‘s gangster films. The project sees Scorsese as a producer with Todd Philips writing the script.
On the other hand, the Joker and Harlequin spinoff is still in the planning stages.
Meanwhile, Justice League is set to be released November 17th this year, finally putting DC’s formidable characters on the big screen. Following within a month is Jason Momoa’s Aquaman on December 21, 2018.
