DCEU’s “Wonder Woman” Opens To $223 Million – Biggest Yet For Female-Directed Films
Unlike the more male-dominated movies that the DCEU had released, “Wonder Woman” received more love among critics and DC fans alike. And for good reason. With reviews stating the film’s freshness and clear abandonment of the previous darkness of preliminary DC offerings, “Wonder Woman” seemed to have finally made a win for the franchise.
Over the week, the film opened to a $100.5 Million domestically. The 343 IMAX theaters that released “Wonder Woman” contributed $9 of the total earnings.
From the international market, the film earned an overwhelming $122.5 million. Impressively, theaters at China accumulated $38 Million of these earnings. All in all, the film garnered a total of $223 Million.
Of note, with Patty Jenkins on the director’s seat, this is the biggest opening of all time for a female director.
Actress Gal Gadot top bills “Wonder Woman”. The film also stars Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Connie Nielsen, and Lucy Davis. It is currently showing in cinemas worldwide.
